A Word in Season

“Present day evangelism takes for granted God's mercy and grace, rather than marveling at them in adoration and worship. Hear Paul say, ‘I obtained mercy;’ hear Peter say, ‘to all who have obtained like precious faith.’ How I long to hear this note in the churches today. Salvation today is a physical rather than a spiritual matter. The preaching of sovereign grace is the need of the hour if we shall be true to God's Word and true to the souls of men.”

Now Christ is already crowned with glory, and He will crown those that love Him with glory too, so that they shall be with each other eternally in the greatest glory. “You have the beginning of the ministry of John the Baptist saying, repent. You have the beginning of the ministry of Jesus saying, repent. Repentance is found throughout the Old and New Testament. It is very, very important. But here's the thing that people forget. Prior to repentance, there is regeneration or the new birth. Being born again is the Lord's sovereign act whereby we are born again and we are given a new nature. And it's because we are born again — note the order here — it is because we are born again that we repent and we exercise faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Not the other way around. We don't repent in order to be born again.”
