Sinn Fein/IRA Triumphant
in Northern Ireland
by Shaun Willcock
In a move that shocked Protestants across Northern
Ireland and around the world, Free Presbyterian minister and leader of the
Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), Ian Paisley, agreed to his party forming
a power-sharing government with Sinn Fein, the Roman Catholic/Marxist
party behind the diabolical, murderous Irish Republican Army (IRA). And
the coalition government came into being on May 8, 2007, with the
devolution of power from London to the Northern Ireland Assembly. Ian
Paisley became First Minister in the new government, with Martin McGuiness
of Sinn Fein/IRA becoming Deputy First Minister.
Although many, weary of the years of conflict in Northern Ireland, think
that this coalition government is actually a good thing, or at least
“better than the alternative”, it is not.
It is nothing less than an alliance with murderers
and terrorists – and such an alliance can never, ever be a good thing. As
the Scripture says: “When the righteous are in authority, the people
rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn” (Prov. 29:2).
As stated in The Burning Bush, a Protestant newsletter from Northern
Ireland: “[Sinn Fein] is a party that still retains the machinery whereby
their campaign of terror was carried out. Sinn Fein is still the IRA in
political clothes. It is still linked to the IRA ‘Army Council’, which
directly oversees the activities of its IRA ‘volunteers’.”
Nothing has
changed from the Sinn Fein/IRA side. They are still what they always have
been: unrepentant terrorists and murderers. Robert Campbell, of the Voice
for Democracy Umbrella Group in Northern Ireland, wrote, “The new pledges
they [terrorist-related politicians] may make will not in any way
guarantee that they will have forfeited the strategy of the terrorist
organizations to which they are intrinsically linked.” It is the height of
foolishness, and utterly irresponsible, for the DUP to trust a single word
that comes out of their mouths. “Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the
leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do
evil” (Jer. 13:23). These men have been accustomed to do evil for decades.
They have not changed. And unless the Lord intervenes, the Christians of
Northern Ireland will tragically experience the truth of Psa. 12:8: “The
wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.”
Let’s take a brief look at history. The island of Ireland was partitioned
back in 1921, separating the mainly Protestant North from the
predominantly Papist South. The North, known as Northern Ireland, or
Ulster, remained part of the United Kingdom, whereas the Irish Free State,
or the Republic of Ireland, in the south, was and is an independent
country. For decades, Sinn Fein/IRA has fought, via terrorist tactics that
have claimed thousands of lives, to force Northern Ireland to break from
the UK and be joined to the Republic of Ireland. It has fought for this in
direct obedience to its master, the pope of Rome; for the Papacy has
always desired a united Ireland, which would be predominantly Papist and
which could then annihilate the Protestants of Northern Ireland. “The
Vatican had pursued a policy of hostility for decades,” wrote historian
Avro Manhattan in Catholic Terror in Ireland. “It had never relented in
favoring the aspirations of extreme Irish nationalism. That is why the
Catholic Church had given its support to Sinn Fein and the I.R.A. from the
very beginning.” And Ronald Cooke, in The IRA and Ethnic Cleansing in
Ulster Today, wrote: “The Roman Catholic clergy... is up to its proverbial
ears in the violence in Ulster.” “The Roman Catholic clergy have done much
more than merely give MORAL support to the IRA assassins; they have HELPED
the IRA murderers in various ways.” The documented evidence is
overwhelming.
In addition to being an organisation answering to
the Vatican, Sinn Fein/IRA is also a Marxist organisation. As far back as
1979, “Reacting to the growing use of socialist sounding rhetoric by
Provisional Sinn Fein spokesmen, William Deedes writes in the Daily
Telegraph: ‘the Provisional IRA are determined, confident, ruthless and
far more ambitious. Their aim is no longer “Brits Out” but as [Gerry]
Adams has recently proclaimed quite openly, a Marxist revolution in all
Ireland’”. This is the goal.
With the blessing of the Vatican, Sinn Fein/IRA has used terrorism, over
decades, to attempt to cow the Protestant population of Northern Ireland
into seeing union with the Republic of Ireland as “inevitable”, even
desirable. It constantly advanced the argument that there can be no true
peace in Northern Ireland until union is reached. “As everyone knows,”
wrote Peter Trumper in Machiavellian Lessons, “these past thirty years the
Jesuit brigade in Ulster, Dublin and America has been gradually edging its
way towards the goal of a united Ireland, determined to have it at any and
all costs, primarily by foul means. The sophisticated Protestant
opposition knowing only too well what a united Ireland will do to
Protestant culture and to the Gospel of Christ, have been standing firm
against the enemies of both – and for years suffering much criticism from
everyone, including their brethren and sisters on the British mainland. At
the same time, bombs, bullets and banditry have forced the ordinary people
to yearn for peace, and most of them are prepared to have it at any
price.”
The Democratic Unionist Party, however, was strongly
opposed to a united Ireland, and also to any form of power-sharing with
Sinn Fein/IRA in Northern Ireland. It was well known that power-sharing
was just the first step; Sinn Fein/IRA would not rest until full union
with the South was achieved. And it had the blessing and active
co-operation of the mighty Roman Catholic institution. “...[T]he Catholic
nationalists of the free Republic [the South] have directed all their
energies to the absorption of Northern Ireland in the South. In other
words, this means the forcible merging of all Protestants into a Catholic
land where the Catholic Church dictates the mode, rule and way of conduct
of every individual and institution, including the government. If this
should occur, what treatment would be meted out to the Protestants?... The
fact that Catholic Ireland is determined to incorporate the Protestant
population of Ulster against their expressed will is the most blatant
proof that both the Catholic Free State and its mentor, the Catholic
Church, DO NOT believe in freedom.
This cannot be otherwise since the basic attitude of
the Catholic Church will always remain the same. Her goal is freedom for
her to exist, expand and destroy others when she is not in a Catholic
land. When in a Catholic society, her goal is the complete removal of all
freedoms to non-Catholics.”
Well, on the 8th May, 2007, finally, Sinn Fein/IRA achieved its goal of
taking that first step towards total union. But who would ever have
thought that it would achieve it with the help of the man who, more than
any other in the past, had stood so firmly against it? That man is Ian
Paisley. The very man who had always (rightly) refused to talk to Sinn
Fein because of its alliance with the IRA! He and his party would
castigate those who advocated power-sharing in the past – yet they have
now done precisely what they castigated others for attempting to do!
In late March, Paisley sat side by side with Gerry Adams, head of Sinn
Fein, to announce the deal to work together in governing Northern Ireland
after decades of hostilities. “Today we’ve agreed with Sinn Fein that this
date will be Thursday, May 8, 2007,” Paisley said after the meeting. “We
must not allow our justified loathing of the horrors and tragedies of the
past to become a barrier to creating a better and more stable future for
our children.” Nice-sounding words. But there cannot possibly be a better
future for Northern Ireland if it is governed by terrorists and murderers.
And this is indeed the case now.
For his part, Adams said relations between the
people of Northern Ireland had been marred by centuries of conflict and
hurt, but “now there is a new start, with the help of God.” What Adams
conveniently failed to say, however, was that the conflict and hurt of the
last decades was caused for the most part by the vile, cowardly terrorism
of his IRA!
At the ceremony in Belfast on May 8, when the new government was launched,
Paisley said: “From the depths of my heart I can say to you today that I
believe Northern Ireland has come to a time of peace, a time when hate
will no longer rule.” How could he be so foolish? How could he truly
believe that sharing power with hardened criminals, murderers, terrorists,
most of whom are loyal members of the Roman Catholic religion, could
possibly bring true peace or be in the best interests of Northern Ireland?
Does he honestly believe that the IRA has changed? That these Papist thugs
no longer hate Protestants and Protestantism? That somehow it will all
“work out”, and hate-filled Papists will now happily work side by side
with Protestants, with no “mental reservations”, and no insidious plans to
carry on working until the dream of a united, Roman Catholic Ireland is
achieved? These are men who used guns and bombs to kill thousands of
innocent people! These are men who fired mortar bombs at the British prime
minister’s residence, attacked London’s financial centre, and almost
killed British prime minister,
Margaret Thatcher, when a bomb exploded at a hotel
in Brighton!
And these are the men who will readily return to conducting an armed
terrorist campaign if things do not go their way!
“To agree to Sinn Fein/IRA being in government is to hand them the prize
which they by terror sought to attain and for which thousands of loyalists
were murdered and maimed by that terror campaign.... To agree to Sinn
Fein/IRA being in government is to exonerate murder and terror and reward
such evil deeds. How can the Protestants of Ulster forget the grief and
misery caused to innumerable innocent households by the activities of the
IRA gunmen and bombers? How can such activities be ignored and the
perpetrators of them be accepted into government? Such a prospect was
utterly unthinkable but a short time ago!”
Pressure was put on Paisley, by both the governments of the United Kingdom
and of the predominantly Roman Catholic Republic of Ireland, to accept a
deal with Sinn Fein/IRA. That is not surprising. What is surprising is
that Paisley finally caved in. The question is: why? Why, after all these
years, has he done what he said he would never do? Why has he, in fact,
gone back on his own teaching and apparent convictions?
Many have felt that Paisley had no choice; that “the
alternative” which London was threatening him with was far worse. This is
incorrect, as pointed out by the Voice for Democracy Umbrella Group:
“Power-sharing with terrorist-related politicians was not required but has
been deliberately chosen by the leadership of the DUP. Devolution is not
necessary, indeed ‘plan B’ never materially existed, but was only an empty
threat without intent used by the British Government to pressurise
Unionists. Without devolution, direct rule would naturally continue and
the cooperation between the British and Irish Governments, in relation to
Northern Ireland, would remain within the framework defined by the
principles of international law. The decision made by politicians who
claim to be democrats to compromise with terrorists has led them to
approve what they had previously rejected: the Belfast Agreement, with the
few practical changes made at St Andrews. Then the same politicians
purposely deceived and blackmailed the electorate into voting for the
power-sharing system. Finally they are now engaging in open collaboration
with unrepentant terrorists.”
Besides, even if London’s threats were very real,
far better to stand on principle than to cave in and compromise.
The following is from Machiavellian Lessons: “From the start, the
‘Protestant’ capitulation to its principles was so marked it was
breathtaking, which must surely have astonished even those who were
gleeful at what they were watching, namely, the crumbling of the
opposition’s resolve. Boris Johnson described the situation perfectly:
‘First we said we wouldn’t talk to them on principle, and yet we did. Then
we said that formal negotiations couldn’t begin unless the IRA began to
decommission. The IRA detonated the Docklands bomb. Formal negotiations
began. Then we said that there could be no deal, no climax to the
negotiations, unless the IRA handed in some weapons, and showed that they
were at least prepared to act like politicians rather than murderers. The
Belfast Agreement was made, complete with cross-border bodies. No weapons
were handed in. At which point we made the men of violence a final offer.
We would not spring them early from jail unless
weapons were decommissioned. No weapons were forthcoming. The prisoners
were released in droves. Then we said that there was absolutely no way, no
way, the IRA – or its representatives in Sinn Fein – could expect to be
included in the new devolved government, unless some weapons were handed
over. No weapons have been handed over and the wolf grins and grins. The
punishment beatings go on in Ulster, and the threat of a resumption of
violence, another mainland bomb, is always there. As Gerry [Adams] said,
and he knew of what he spoke, ‘they haven’t gone away, you know.’
“Yes, ‘the wolf grins and grins’, and the ‘lamb’
bleats and bleats its protests but to little effect. Onlookers around the
world are baffled. Why has there been no decommissioning of weapons, and
why is there such weak-kneed capitulation on the ‘Protestant’ side?”
This is so similar to what happened in South Africa prior to 1994 that it
is chilling! “Negotiations”! They are nothing but a vehicle for the
advance of the terrorists, and the retreat of those opposing them.
Ian Paisley is on record as now saying that Sinn Fein is today a different
party from the one the DUP faced when it embarked on a process of trying
to transform Republicanism. But Sinn Fein/IRA has not, in any sense,
veered from its ultimate goal of uniting Northern Ireland with the Roman
Catholic South – and Paisley knows this. He has always known it. He
therefore must also know that this new power-sharing arrangement will
never satisfy Sinn Fein/IRA. It will relentlessly push on for a united
Ireland. Does he honestly believe that he and his party, having given way
on this matter, can forever prevent Sinn Fein/IRA, backed by the Roman
Catholic institution, from reaching its ultimate goal of a united, Roman
Catholic Ireland?
“In a united and all-Catholic Ireland, the former
Protestant majority of Ulster would become a harassed and persecuted
minority. Past history is the best indicator that this would be so. Apart
from inevitable legal restrictions, religious hamstringing, etc., the
Protestants would be compelled to submit to Catholic dominance or to
emigrate altogether.”
Sinn Fein/IRA has now got exactly what it wanted. Sinn Fein’s Gerry Adams
is on record as saying, “Sinn Fein remains firmly focused on bringing
about a situation where Martin McGuiness and Ian Paisley would be equal
partners at the head of a power sharing government in the north.” Note
those words: “equal partners.” Significantly, as pointed out by Ivan
Foster, a Free Presbyterian minister in Northern Ireland, the office of
First Minister (which Paisley now holds) is in actual fact not senior to
that of the Deputy First Minister (held by Sinn Fein/IRA’s Martin
McGuiness). There are not, strictly speaking, two offices, only one: the
office of First and Deputy First Minister. They are equal! As Ivan Foster
stated bluntly: “Dr. Paisley can’t blow his nose unless Martin McGuiness
approves of it.”
It is true in reverse, of course. But as Ivan Foster
points out: “when there’s an appeal to the referee, whose side do you
think the referee will be on?”
From this position of power, Sinn Fein/IRA will
begin to call the shots, and Paisley will find himself (despite being
“First Minister”) being outmaneuvred at almost every turn. Having got
themselves into government, Sinn Fein/IRA will increasingly become the
real power in Northern Ireland. They have the backing of London, Dublin,
the powerful Roman Catholic lobby in Washington, the European Union, and
indeed liberals, Marxists, and Papists the world over. And furthermore,
Sinn Fein/IRA can always resort again to terrorism to get their way! For
after secret deals with London, the police service of Northern Ireland has
been reduced “to little more than an adult version of the ‘Boy Scouts’,
presenting little threat to the ongoing criminal activities of Sinn
Fein/IRA.” “Evidence of the changes in the area of law and order that Sinn
Fein/IRA has sought and obtained is seen in some recent announcements. One
has to do with the future involvement of the security agency, MI 5. It is
to have no part in the policing of Northern Ireland. Sinn Fein/IRA claims
this as a victory and as a concession to them.”
No wonder Sinn Fein/IRA is now ready to go into a coalition government
with the DUP! “All in all, it must surely be seen by even the most
war-weary Ulster unionist that the so-called ‘new day’ that the St
Andrew’s Agreement was supposed to usher in is nothing more than that day
of Sinn Fein/IRA’s triumph so long sought by them and so long frustrated
by the loyal and diligent stance of former generations of Ulster
loyalists.... Sinn Fein/IRA seems bent on celebrating their victory with
the re-opening of Stormont [Ulster’s parliament] on their terms to which
Unionism has shamefully acceded.”
A DUP MEP, Jim Allister, QC, resigned from the party in protest over its
decision to share power with Sinn Fein/IRA, saying that organisation was
“not fit for government”. He said that the DUP was set on going into
government with Sinn Fein/IRA, even “while the IRA Army Council still
exists.” “For me, the abolition of the [IRA’s] Army Council was always the
litmus test of the sincerity of Sinn Fein/IRA’s professed transition to
involvement in an exclusively peaceful and democratic process. The Army
Council is the apex of the military structures of the republican
movement.” He pointed out that it had long been one of the DUP’s
principles, and was in the March 2007 election manifesto, that those
structures had to go. The DUP was going into government with a party which
had an illegal terrorist army intact. Of the Paisley/Adams meeting he
said: “My stomach churned at what I saw. At [the DUP] sitting down with
those people and not knowing whether some of them are still members of the
IRA Army Council.
They filled coffins day upon day and I have yet to hear
a word of regret or repentance or genuine remorse from those men. What I
do hear is glorification of acts of terror by Mr Adams and I feel many
people’s stomachs churned and may churn still today.” If Sinn Fein
believed the IRA was truly and irreversibly committed to exclusively
peaceful means, he said, there was no need for an IRA army council. “I
just cannot comprehend how the DUP can contemplate government,
particularly where it will be joined at the hip in the Office of First
Minister and Deputy First Minister, with an organisation which clings to
an illegal army council of an illegal army,” he said. And he added: “It
seems to me that, sadly, the lure of office has clouded the party’s
judgment.”
A DUP councillor, Sam Gaston, also stepped down from
the party. He said, “I think those people who have suffered deserve that
we don’t have unrepentant terrorists in government.”
Paisley should have turned to the recent history of South Africa for ample
evidence of what happens when men begin to negotiate with terrorists. When
I ministered in many Protestant churches in Northern Ireland in 2003, I
made the point that what happened in South Africa could be repeated in
Northern Ireland; and now it is indeed beginning to come to pass. For in
SA the government, under huge pressure, began to “negotiate” a “new deal”
with the Marxist terrorists of the African National Congress (ANC) and SA
Communist Party. The country’s citizens were assured that this was the
best way forward; that power-sharing was inevitable and necessary, even
desirable; etc., etc. But every step of the way, the government was out-maneuvred.
Step by step, it was obvious that the ANC/SACP alliance was getting all
that it wanted. As I wrote in my book, “Holy War” Against South Africa:
“By early 1992, the ‘Congress for a Democratic South Africa’ (CODESA) was
well in place, and was rapidly usurping Parliament as the primary
decision-making authority in South Africa.
It was an unelected body,
consisting of members of various parties but completely dominated by the
National Party government and the ANC, and it was working to transform SA
into a ‘democratic’ (i.e. Marxist) country. The NP had undergone such a
radical change that it was unrecognisable as the NP of the past. Although
there were frequent apparent clashes between it and the ANC on various
details, the simple reality was that the NP, pressurised by the Bush
Administration in the US, the US State Department and various Western
countries (who in turn were receiving orders from the Jesuit/Illuminati
conspirators), was in the process of handing over power to the ANC/SACP
alliance.” And in 1994 SA fell to the Communist forces in a massively
rigged election.
President F.W. de Klerk essentially handed SA on a
plate to Nelson Mandela and the ANC.
Certainly there are differences between Northern Ireland and the South
African tragedy, but one is struck by the very real similarities in the
modus operandi of the terrorists, and in the capitulation of those who
should have known better. All one has to do is simply read “DUP” instead
of “NP” into the above paragraph from my book, and “Sinn Fein/IRA” instead
of “ANC”, with a few other changes, and paraphrase it as follows, to see
what Northern Ireland could be like under this “coalition” government in
the very near future: “The DUP had undergone such a radical change that it
was unrecognisable as the DUP of the past. Although there were frequent
apparent clashes between it and Sinn Fein/IRA on various details, the
simple reality was that the DUP, pressurised by London and Dublin, and
doubtless others, was in the process of handing over (full) power to Sinn
Fein/IRA.”
Take heed, also, to the following quotation from the book: “South Africa
was in the late stages of the first phase of a classic Marxist-Leninist
revolution: Phase One was to establish a coalition government between
Communists and non-Communists; and Phase Two was to establish a ‘People’s
Democracy’ (a Communist state), after all non-Communists had been purged
out of government.” Again, substitute “Roman Catholic/Communist
terrorists” for “Communists”, etc., and it can be paraphrased as follows:
“Phase One was to establish a coalition government between Roman
Catholic/Communist terrorists and non-Romanists (Protestants);and Phase
Two was to establish a United Ireland, a Roman Catholic state, after all
non-Papists had been purged out of government.” It is chilling, is it not?
Northern Ireland, having established a coalition government in May 2007,
has now entered Phase Two of the Vatican/Sinn Fein/IRA revolution.
What a huge tragedy if Ian Paisley, for so many long
years such a powerful force against IRA terrorism, ends up going down in
history as Northern Ireland’s F.W. de Klerk! This “power-sharing”
agreement is little different, in practice, to what happened in SA. It is
just a stepping stone to full power for the terrorists. And as with the
ANC in South Africa, Sinn Fein/IRA hasn’t really budged at all. The DUP
has shifted, altered its position, just like SA’s National Party before
the ANC came to power.
Paisley could also have turned to the conflict between Israel and the
Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO), and now between Israel and other
Islamic terrorist groups, for further evidence of what this “new deal”
will mean for Northern Ireland. The ultimate goal of the Muslim terrorists
is the complete eradication of the nation of Israel; but they are content
to achieve that goal in a piecemeal fashion, gaining a victory here,
another there. Every time Israel has backed off, and conceded something to
the terrorists, they have grabbed it – and then demanded more, and more.
It is patently obvious that in the Middle East, “negotiations” mean
Israel’s retreat step by step, and the Islamic terrorists’ advance step by
step.
Why is the pattern so very similar between the ANC, the PLO, and the IRA?
The reason is this: they are all part of the same international terror
network! The following is from my book, “Holy War” Against South Africa:
“As far back as the early 1970s, meetings took place between the ANC and
IRA in Libya, the USSR, Eastern Europe, Lebanon, and South Yemen. PAC [Pan
Africanist Congress] leaders had discussions with the IRA in Britain, and
the two stated that they were ready to work together in SA. The PLO, as
well, was quite prepared to work in SA with the PAC. This reveals that, in
the twilight world of international terrorism, Communism and Islam merge
with Roman Catholicism. Seemingly-diverse groups, with apparently little
or nothing in common, support one another, standing shoulder to shoulder
in the international “struggle”. For truly, the battle is international.
Behind it all is the centuries-old Vatican
conspiracy, under the direction of the Jesuit/Illuminati forces, to
enchain the world to the feet of the pope. The network centres in Rome,
even though many of those involved do not know it. Christians have the
prophetic Word, and the available evidence verifies it. While Communism,
or Islam for that matter, can be used to further its ambitions, the
Vatican will readily make use of the forces of either one. Communism and
Islam have ambitions of their own, of course, and are also prepared to use
anyone to further their goals. It was thus mutually beneficial for the
Roman Catholic IRA and the Marxist ANC or PAC to work together, for the
ANC and the Muslim PLO to work together, etc. Victory for one was seen as
a further step towards victory for the others. A setback for one was a
setback for all.
The common thread, uniting them all, was the
destruction of the existing order, and the creation of the new.”
As stated by Robert Campbell of The Voice for Democracy Umbrella Group in
Northern Ireland: “for the two pro-agreement unionist parties i.e. the
Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) and the Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) to
enter into a coalition with Sinn Fein/IRA after the elections... would be
an encouragement to any other terrorist organisation, whether in Europe,
in the Middle East, or anywhere else, to follow the same strategy in order
to achieve their political aims: engage in a so-called peace process,
enter government, yet maintain their ability to decide when to return to
violence.” Precisely. Just as the ANC’s victory had ramifications far
beyond South Africa, as it gave encouragement to such terrorist
organisations as the IRA, so now this victory for Sinn Fein/IRA has
ramifications far beyond Northern Ireland. For all the terrorist
organisations are interlinked.
To quote again from “Holy War” Against South Africa:
“The Irish Republican Army has always been a servant of the Papacy in
Ireland. In its attempts to bring British control of Northern Ireland to
an end, it has used the same kinds of terror tactics as the ANC used in
South Africa. This radical terrorist organisation’s political wing is
called Sinn Fein. At its Party Congress in 1985, Sinn Fein president,
Gerry Adams, said: ‘We do not hypocritically call upon the ANC to renounce
violence. We stand shoulder to shoulder with them in their right to
develop their struggle by whatever means are forced upon them. To the ANC
we extend our unconditional solidarity.
To our black brothers and sisters
in the struggle we send this simple message of support: Fight on!’ These
words reveal, firstly, that there is an international terrorist network,
made up of various terrorist organisations around the world, supposedly
widely divergent and fighting for different goals, but in reality
interlocking and even at times overlapping, and working for the same
ultimate ends; secondly, that the ANC’s war was the Vatican’s war: for the
IRA is under the Vatican’s control. IRA support for the ANC was yet
another link in the chain of international Roman Catholic support for the
Marxist ANC.”
There is certainly ample evidence to show that there are still very close
ties between the IRA and the ANC, years after the ANC’s victory in South
Africa. And this is not surprising, considering the fact that both are
Marxist. Consider the following:
In 2000 and 2001, the IRA permitted an inspection of its secret arms
dumps. Many were impressed by this, thinking it indicated a change of
heart on the part of the IRA. But who was working in co-operation with the
disarmament commission? None other than a high-ranking ANC member, Cyril
Ramaphosa! And he, along with former Finnish president Martti Ahtisaari,
said in a joint statement: “We observed that the weapons and explosives
continued to be safely and adequately stored. We remain confident that
they cannot be used without our detection.” But assurances from the likes
of Ramaphosa mean nothing, given the ANC’s strong links to the IRA over
many years!
In October 2001, Gerry Adams, Sinn Fein’s leader,
visited South Africa to hold talks with senior ANC members, the ANC being
the ruling party since 1994. As reported in the press at the time, “The
ANC is a long-time ally of Sinn Fein”. On his arrival, Adams said that
South Africa’s “peaceful transition to democracy” [what “peaceful
transition”, and what “democracy”? – tens of thousands of people died to
establish what amounts to a de facto one-party state!] should serve as an
example to Northern Ireland. He told reporters, “We have a duty to listen
and try to replicate what you have done here, back home in Ireland.” Note
that he spoke of Northern Ireland as “Ireland” – his ultimate goal being
one united, Roman Catholic Ireland.
Adams met with former SA president, Nelson Mandela, in Johannesburg,
saying he was seeking advice from Mandela. And he said Northern Ireland
politicians must work towards a peaceful, South African-style political
settlement! Mandela echoed this, saying, “They must emulate our example.
We made peace with our enemies.” Again let it be said, there was no truly
peaceful settlement in SA; and the ANC did not, in truth, make peace with
the conservative former white government of SA. But the words of the two
men showed plainly that SA’s Marxist revolution was the model for Sinn
Fein/IRA’s Marxist strategy in Northern Ireland.
In November 2005, Gerry Adams again visited South
Africa. SA’s spokesman for the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ronnie
Mamoepa (ANC), said that Adams’ visit provided for a “sharing of
experiences on decommissioning and disarmament, and particularly the
lessons that could be learnt from the various peace processes in Africa
[peace processes? what peace processes?].” Adams met with SA President
Thabo Mbeki in Pretoria, and even addressed parliament in Cape Town!
Roman Catholic priest, Barney McAleer, of the Southern African Catholic
Bishops’ Conference, who is himself from Northern Ireland, said after
Adams’ visit that the long-term implications of the “Good Friday
Agreement” in Northern Ireland were uppermost in Adams’ discussions with
the South African government and “Church” representatives. He said that
Northern Ireland could learn much from South Africa, especially in
creating dialogue between old enemies and getting various denominations
and religions to co-operate with one another. He said there were lessons
to be learnt from ecumenical initiatives in South Africa that could be
applied to the building of sound relationships between the historically
polarised Roman Catholic and Protestant communities in Northern Ireland.
When the leader of a terrorist organisation can be
invited to address parliament, and hold discussions with the president and
with religious leaders, we can be sure that the ties between the two
terrorist organisations (the IRA and SA’s ruling ANC) are very strong
indeed. Adams was in SA to “learn” from what occurred here, and he would
have picked up a lot of “tips”! Including the fact that “dialoguing with
old enemies” is simply doublespeak for using “negotiations” to gain major
victories at the expense of the other side. It’s a proven tactic of
Marxist terrorists. And when unregenerate religious leaders get involved,
as they did in SA, this only makes matters infinitely worse, for they
always side with the terrorists. South Africans know this only too well,
by bitter experience.
This then is the terrorist organisation (Sinn Fein/IRA) with which Ian
Paisley and his party have now formed a coalition government! A terrorist
organisation that has maintained a close working relationship with Nelson
Mandela’s ANC, another terrorist organisation and which now governs South
Africa. When I ministered to the congregation of Martyrs’ Memorial Free
Presbyterian Church in Belfast, where Ian Paisley is the minister, in
2003, he spoke strongly against Nelson Mandela, and with great sadness
over what has happened to South Africa. And yet now Sinn Fein/IRA, a
terrorist organisation closely tied to the ANC, has entered into a
“power-sharing” deal with Ian Paisley’s DUP!
When one thinks of the stand taken by Ian Paisley for many decades, this
about-face is incomprehensible. Ronald Cooke, in his book entitled Ian
Paisley: Protestant Protagonist Par Excellence, said: “Perhaps no other
man in this [twentieth] century has received such a barrage of unrelenting
hate literature directed against him as that endured by Ian Paisley.”
But
now?
Yes, the about-face of Paisley and the DUP has shocked the Protestant
population of Northern Ireland (and Bible Protestants around the world!).
To see photographs of a smiling Paisley sitting at a table for discussions
with Roman Catholic archbishop, Sean Brady, and a delegation of the Roman
Catholic hierarchy, deeply saddened the Lord’s people. Here are the words
of Paisley himself, from his statement on the meeting: “This is a meeting
between the DUP, as the largest political party in Northern Ireland, and a
delegation led by Archbishop Brady from the Northern Ireland Catholic
Council on Social Affairs. Our topics of discussion were social, economic
and political. I welcome the opportunity that this meeting has provided.
We have had a very good and useful exchange of views across a range of
issues. It is in the interests of everyone to develop the foundations for
stability and prosperity for all the people of Northern Ireland....
Today’s meeting is the latest in a series with
Church leaders and civil society and we look forward to further
discussions with Archbishop Brady and his colleagues in the coming
months.”
There was absolutely no need for Paisley to meet
with the Papist archbishop and his cronies. Sean Brady is not a
politician, but a religious leader, and therefore the DUP did not in any
sense need to meet him for discussions about Northern Ireland. Brady, as
the Papal primate of “All Ireland”, is the representative of the Roman
pope in Ireland – the one whom Ian Paisley has so often correctly called
the Antichrist of God’s Word! In the late 1980s Paisley stood up at the
European parliament, when the pope visited there, and boldly held up a
placard that said “Antichrist!” And yet now he has met with the
Antichrist’s representative, said that he “welcomed” the opportunity,
spoke of a “very good and useful exchange of views” with him, and even
added that he was actually “looking forward to further discussions” with
the man! Looking forward to further discussions with the Antichrist’s
representative! Looking forward to further discussions with the very
religious leaders who have supported the IRA’s terror campaign against the
Protestants of Northern Ireland! The Roman Catholic religious leaders of
Northern Ireland have blood on their hands – and yet Paisley sat down with
them for unnecessary talks about the future of the country they have done
so much to destroy!
Ian Paisley has preached from these words of Holy
Scripture: “Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the
Lord?” (2 Chron. 19:2). We well remember hearing his powerful voice
thundering out those very words. But now we must apply those words of Holy
Scripture to him! For this is precisely what he has done. And we pray that
the Lord would have mercy, that the rest of the verse will not be found to
be true of him as well: “therefore is wrath upon thee from before the
Lord.”
That Ian Paisley has gravely erred in this matter (along with the others
in the DUP) is very obvious. But it must be remembered that even a true
Christian can commit grave errors, which may sometimes have devastating
consequences, not only for him but for many others, especially if he is in
a position of authority or leadership. The Bible is replete with examples.
Prov. 6:26 says, “the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.” Gospel
ministers are in Satan’s sights, more than any others! If a servant of the
Lord can be made to err, what a victory for the devil!
As correctly pointed out by Free Presbyterian
minister, Ivan Foster, the alliance of the DUP with Sinn Fein/IRA is like
that between Samson and Delilah. And it will have the same tragic
consequences in the end. And as certainly as the Philistines worshipped
their god with rejoicing and said, “Our god hath delivered Samson our
enemy into our hand”, and praised their god with merry hearts (Judg.
16:23-25), so throughout Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, other
parts of the Roman Catholic world, and the Vatican, Roman Catholics must
be worshipping their false “christ” with rejoicing, and praising with
merry hearts! For in their eyes, their false god has delivered the DUP
into their hands. “It is our conviction that any form of association or
compromise with terrorist-related politicians on behalf of Ministers or
elders of the Free Presbyterian Church [the denomination in which Ian
Paisley is a minister] will undoubtedly seriously undermine the testimony
of that Church in Northern Ireland and throughout the world. The betrayal
of former pledges by Free Presbyterians will also provide unbelievers with
an excuse for turning away from the Gospel.” This is true, and it has
already happened. Even in far-away South Africa, there are men who have
gloated over what they perceive as Ian Paisley’s about-face. How the
Vatican must be laughing! How Sinn Fein/IRA must be laughing! To think
that they have achieved this huge victory, not under some weak,
vacillating, appeasement-oriented Protestant politician, but under Ian
Paisley himself! The man who stood against them like a rock for decades!
We join Bible-believing Christians the world over in praying for Ian
Paisley, and for the Christians of Northern Ireland, who now face a very
uncertain future in the hands of men who should never, ever have been
permitted to be in government. May the Lord yet deliver His people there
from the horrors of Roman Catholic and terrorist domination!
